A massage parlour has been caught out operating as a brothel after a customer was offered sex as treatment for his bad back. But Magistrate Jade Bott rejected her claim, citing evidence contradicting her statement. Express Massage 2 in Moorabbin, Melbourne, has been issued a proscribed brothel order, essentially closing the business down. A customer who asked for a back massage after a long day at work said he was shocked and confused when the woman providing the service asked if he was looking for any 'extras'.
Initially, he assumed she was offering spa or sauna services, but he claims she clarified that she was offering sex or sexual favours. Ms Nguyen said she had nearly women work for her at the business in the past few years and none offered any 'extra' services to any client. One of her customers, who took the stand, told the court that someone was trying to 'set her up, run her out of business'.
Ms Bott, however, rejected Ms Nguyen's claims and raised questions about the unregulated massage industry. An undercover agent who visited the business told court that while he was not offered sexual services, he was greeted by a scantily clad woman 'showing a substantial amount of cleavage'.
